i keep my supposed xb (because not yet crossed, not even six level, got pearlies though not full) in a black tank with black sand substrate because i want a golden aro, not colourless/white aro..... my priority is colour density and not crossing as i am admiring my fish from the side and not from the top...... and i am not a trader who wants quick crossing..... i am just a simple aro keeper/hobbyist......

Some develop faster some develop slower. Usually the whitish one develop higher shine faster. But then another issue comes in, will these pale looking one will develop colour as good? Well, like I said before genes play a part. I have seen alot of pale looking one which got full cross and full pearlies. Alot also got alot of golden head coverage, but colour is disappointing.

For one, I'm also someone who prefer colour more than anything else. To me, so what if you got a full helmet crossback but extremely lousy in colour. As long it's a crossback, not full crossed but got minimum full pearlies and good colour I'm good.
